MORNING REPORT 22 MAY 19 : TECH STOCKS LEAD WALL ST HIGHER AS RESTRICTIONS OF HUAWEI SALES ARE EASED

 

US sharemarkets rose on Tuesday in response to the easing of
trade restrictions on telco equipment maker, Huawei Technologies.
Shares of Huawei suppliers rose by between 1% and 4.5%. Shares
of department store Kohl's fell by 12.7% and rival JC Penney lost
7.0% after both missed expectations with quarterly results. The Dow
Jones index rose by 197 points or 0.8%. The S&P500 index rose by
0.9%. And the Nasdaq index rose by 83 points or 1.1%.
