- The Testimony Within
- This isn’t some mystical elitism. This is grace-born assurance.
- Distract from the Holy Spirit
- “You’ve been taught wrong”
- “Let ME show you the hidden meaning”
- “Jesus didn’t really mean that”
- We are not left to figure it out alone. We have the Holy Spirit
- False Teachers and their distractions
- False Teachers in Today’s Church
- The serpent moves from questioning God’s word to direct rejection of it. “You surely will not die”
- The serpent explains why God actually does not want people to eat from the tree.
- Jesus is a moral example, not a savior
- Downplays sin and elevates personal truth
- Encourages spiritual journeys without submission to Christ
- Not a blatant disregard of the truth, more of a shade of the truth. They sound so reasonable and even impressive.
- False teachers question what God said.
- False teachers defy or reject what God said.
- False teachers offer a “better” alternative
- Usually subtle
- Stand Firm
- Know the testimony
- Read the Word. Know what God says.
- Trust the testimony
- Let the Spirit affirm your faith, not shake it.
- Reject false testimony
- Don’t flirt with distortion.
- Encourage others.
- Speak up when the truth is twisted. Be Bold in truth, gentle in love
- Set Boundaries to avoid false teaching
- Ask God to strengthen your knowledge, wisdom, and discernment in His Word.

The time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths,” 2 Timothy 4:3-4
