Market Close 5 Oct 18: Market improves for a third day; ASX 200 +0.15%

The local sharemarket has managed to finish in the black for a third straight session, boosted by gains from the banks, gold miners and supermarket stocks. Over the week though, the ASX 200 slipped 0.3%.
