Today’s Text: 1 Kings 19:1-13

 

Elijah’s prayer: “I have had enough, Lord.”

 

God’s Reply: “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

 

Elijah retraced Moses’ journey & experience  (19:8)

• 40 days & nights in wilderness (Moses, 40 years)
• He come Horeb, the mountain of God (Mt. Sinai)
• God is going to “pass by” (Moses, Exodus 33:21-23)

 

God asks Elijah this same question twice (19:9 & 13)

 

Elijah gives God the same answer both times (19:10 & 14)

 

The Lord is about to pass by (1 Kings 19:11)

- Wind - Exodus 14:21 (The Red Sea)

- Earthquake - Numbers 16:31-34 (Korah’s Rebellion)

- Fire - Numbers 16:35 (Korah’s Rebellion)

- A still small voice - Psalm 46:10

 

“What are you doing here, __________________?”
