• A warning to unbelievers
  • Written as if it as already happened (riches HAVE rotted, etc.)
    • Fire = judgment
    • No real call to repentance because these are unbelievers
• The crying of the workers
  • Starts with unfair (unpaid) wages
  • Defrauding (depriving away from)
  • They are not rebuked for crying to the Lord about this injustice. God cares about injustice!
• The Hearing of the Lord
  • Lord of Hosts (often a military term)
  • God had already heard (or seen) the issue
  • Murder, literal or figurative? Not sure, but shows cold heart
• Applications
  • Stuff is alluring but transient.
  • Sin follows sin
  • Speaking out for the oppressed is right.
  • Stating injustice to God is good
