Forgetting that God had set them apart to be distinct from all other nations, the people of Israel asked for a king so that they could be like all the other nations. Knowing that this would not turn out well, God still granted their request. Saul was appointed king, followed by David and then Solomon; all of whom sought to reign in faithfulness to God while making many, many errors, some of them life-or-death.
