- Feed: Speak the Word of God to the flock (7,8-16)
- Lead: Live the Word of God before the flock (7)
- Protect: Guard the Flock (17)

II. The Role of the sheep ( members of the church)
- Remember: Consider leaders way of living (7)
- Discern: Is teaching Christ-centered? (8-16)
- Imitate: Follow leaders example (7)
- Obey: Heed leaders warning (17)
- Submit: Maintain humble, responsive attitude (17)
- Support: Joyfully encourage your leaders (17)
