US Close 5 Jan 18: Dow surpasses 25,000pts, gold and oil higher while US Dollar fell

US sharemarkets rose on Thursday with the Dow Jones index breaking 25,000 points for the first time. Investors were encouraged by the strong US report on private jobs and the good economic data in Europe and China.
