15. Don’t Believe Everything You Hear (1 John 4:1-69)

We've been, again, looking through the book of 1 John at the qualities of the authentic Christian life. That's what living the Christian life is all about. In fact, when I was at Kapa 'a High the other day,

 

I had a question-and-answer time for about 15 minutes and one of the kids said that the biggest turn off for them is hypocrisy. And one of the questions I asked them right at the start is, you know, when you think of a pastor, what do you think of? And of course they said, "Oh, a holy man and a righteous person." And I said, "Come on, you know, tell me what you really think and then then all the stuff came out you know, and I explained to them that's why I couldn't think of anything worse in life than being a pastor when I was a young person and now, I'm so grateful at God's calling.  The fact is, John is talking about the authentic Christian life and how important it is to live the authentic Christian life .
