The Jews rejected Moses long before they rejected Jesus.

God doesn't always work in the ways you think he will, and he doesn't always qualify people in the ways you would think he would! Moses is a tremendous example of someone who seemed like the perfect candidate for God's use... But good motives and impressive credentials do not a spiritual leader make.
