US Close 11 Aug 16: Markets move into the red as oil slides and energy earning disappoint.

US sharemarkets fell on Wednesday with the Nasdaq retreating from record highs. The drop in oil prices weighed on energy stocks. The S&P Energy sector fell 1.4%. Exxon Mobile fell by 1.7%and was the biggest drag on S&P 500 and the Dow. The Dow Jones fell by 37 points or 0.2%. The S&P 500 index fell by 0.3% and the Nasdaq lost almost 21 points or 0.4%
