US Close 9 Oct 17: US stocks end the week flat; Jobs hit by storms

 

 US sharemarkets ended flat on Friday. Employment fell for the first time in seven years, although hurricane activity affected the result. The Dow Jones fell by almost 2 points, the S&P 500 fell by 0.1% and the Nasdaq rose almost 5 points or 0.1% to record highs. Over the week the Dow rose 1.6%, S&P 500 rose by 1.2% and the Nasdaq rose by 0.5%.
