US Mid-Session 6 Dec 16: US higher brushing off Italian leader and bank concerns.

US sharemarkets rose on Monday although gains weakened in afternoon trade. Nine of the 11 S&P 500 sectors were higher. Shares in Goldman Sachs rose by 2.2% after HSBC initiated coverage of the stock with a 'buy' rating. With just over an hour to go, the Dow Jones index was higher by 26 points or 0.1% after being up 104 points at one stage. The S&P 500 index was up by 0.5% while the Nasdaq gained 45 points or 0.9%
