The Searchers (1956)

We’re in our last week for our month’s theme of ASSHOLES ON FILM and we had to hit up a flick with our Asshole Theme Mascot, John Wayne. Why not hit up one of the most beloved John Ford/John Wayne westerns ever. Yep, we’re talking about the 1956 classic “The Searchers” starring John Wayne, Jeffrey Hunter, Vera Miles and a young Natalie Wood. The character of Ethan Edwards is quite the racist so you know John Wayne didn’t have to “act” too hard. His racism doesn’t ebb when a particular Comanche tribe kills his family and abducts his nieces. He doesn’t even like the guy who is helping him look for his family throughout the movie because he’s 1/8th Cherokee. He’s a cunt and he will probably kill his niece when he finds her because she’s probably too integrated within the tribe. Also this is Charlie McCorrey’s movie and we’re all just along for the ride. Lauren not immediately jumping on Charlie’s crotch is probably the most baffling thing about this movie. We also have all the hot goss on Nancy “Backlot Special” Reagan. We also name every Little Debbie snack cake. It’s very exciting. Happy Asshole month!
