US Pre-Close 13 Dec 18: Stocks lift on US-China trade progress

The US sharemarket is up by around 1% with an hour of trade remaining although major indices have faded from intraday highs. Some small encouraging signs on the US-China trade dispute have helped while in Europe the focus is on UK Prime Minister Theresa May facing a party confidence vote today.
