Morning Report 7 Mar 22: ASX 200 remains resilient in the face of falling US & European markets

US sharemarkets fell on Friday with the war in Ukraine dominating attention over-shadowing the latest jobs data. Banks fell by 3.4% in response to lower bond yields. And the energy sector rose 2.9% on the soaring oil price. At the close of trade, the Dow Jones index was down by 180 points or 0.5%. The S&P 500 index fell by 0.8% and the Nasdaq fell by 224.5 points or 1.7%. Over the week the Dow lost 1.3%; the S&P 500 index lost 1.3%; and the Nasdaq lost 2.8%.
