Christopher La Tourette La Riche, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist, award-winning psychotherapist and board-certified addiction psychiatrist. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and specializes in treating patients with addictive disorders, anxiety, depression, panic disorder, bipolar disorder and adult ADHD, using a humanistic approach that treats the whole person, not just the disease.
Dr. La Riche entered medicine after a career in education and the arts. He received a bachelor’s degree in comparative literature from Yale University and a master’s degree from Columbia University. Dr. La Riche received his medical degree from the Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico where he graduated with clinical distinction. He completed his internship and residency in psychiatry at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, and received his fellowship in addiction psychiatry from the University of Miami. Dr. La Riche is a fluent speaker of six languages (English, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, German and French) and treats clients in all of these languages.
He is currently writing a book on recent advances in addictive disorders and cognitive deficit/cognitive health post-addiction for families and patients. His publications include book chapters and journal articles on the topics of addiction, the neurobiology of depression and child abuse. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Addiction Medicine and Therapies.
