US Mid-Session 28 Jan 16: US sharemarkets eased after the Federal Reserve decision.

The US Federal Reserve left the federal funds target rate unchanged at 0.25-0.50%. The FOMC removed reference to the phrase that indicated balanced risks to the economic outlook. "The Committee is closely monitoring global economic and financial developments and is assessing their implications for the labor market and inflation, and for the balance of risks to the outlook."

 

US sharemarkets eased after the Federal Reserve decision. With an hour of trade to go the Dow Jones index was lower by 130 points or 0.8% with the S&P 500 down by 0.5% while the Nasdaq lost 65 points or 1.4%.
