US Close 31 Mar 17: NASDAQ at record highs as US growth helped lift banks and tech

US sharemarkets rose on Thursday with investors positive about economic prospects in the lead-up to the release of first quarter earnings results. Shares in active-wear company Lululemon lost 23.4% after flagging a fall in first quarter sales. Shares in ConocoPhillips rose 8.8% after the company agreed to sell oil sands and western Canadian natural gas assets to Cenovus Energy. The Dow Jones index rose by 69 points or 0.3%. The S&P 500 index rose by 0.3% and the Nasdaq was up by 17 points or 0.2%.
