Mid-Session 17 Oct 18: Aussie shares follow US lead higher

Local shares are lifting for a second straight session at lunch on Wednesday with the ASX 200 climbing 50 points or 0.9% following a strong lead from Wall St. All sectors bar materials are improving with BHP Billiton lower on a quarterly update.
