EuroParlRadio's editor Karen Coleman talks to the Fine Gael MEP Deirdre Clune on an EU committee investigating the development of alternative transport routes for Ireland post-Brexit.
The European Parliament’s Transport Committee (which Clune is a member of) is examining EU commission proposals to expand maritime routes from Ireland to continental Europe. The plans would be particularly important if the UK crashes out of the EU without a Brexit deal.
That could see traditional transport routes from the Republic of Ireland through the likes of Dover to Calais severely compromised.
