Morning Report 4 Mar 22: US sharemarkets struggled for direction on Thursday

Investors weighed up developments in the Ukraine war, mixed economic data, interest rate expectations and movements in the oil price. Pivotal jobs data is released on Friday. At the close of trade, the Dow Jones index was down by 97 points or 0.3%. The S&P 500 index fell by 0.5% and the Nasdaq fell by 214 points or 1.6%.
