In this special two-part episode of The Weekend Take, we celebrate the nationwide release of "Broken Swords" by sitting down with the film's Co-Creator and Director, Michael Babbitt of Bombshell Studios (www.bombshellstudios.com) to discuss the five year journey of the Broken Swords.
What started as an idea for a screenplay in January 2015, built upon the foundation of decades of world building experience as a Dungeon Master in Dungeons & Dragons, has now produced a full length fantasy feature film of tremendous quality and studio level production value on an indie budget.
We will look at what it took to create a truly original world for the mercenary group The Broken Swords, comprised of men and women from all corners of that world. From putting thoughts to paper with Co-Creator and Writer Christopher Lee Jones, to creating and molding not only each member of The Broken Swords, but the cultural and societal backgrounds and histories of the fictitious lands from which they hail.
We will also look at what it took to get from that screenplay to principal photography, including the false starts, sacrifices, and bumps in the road along the way.
Be sure to keep an eye out for Part 2 of this episode next week where we finish the journey and discuss the production and post-production process as well as the hoops and hurdles of film distribution.
