Mid-Session 12 July 19: Banks & energy names move higher as ASX 200 consolidates after recent gains

Local shares retreated in early trade on Friday after several days of gains. Sellers were taking a cautious approach ahead of the weekend despite US stocks moving higher on the back of rate cut expectations.
