He works for Paul Madvig, a powerful political boss backing a reform candidate, Ralph Henry, in exchange for the chance to marry Henry’s daughter, Janet.

When Henry’s son, Taylor, is found murdered, suspicion begins to swirl around Madvig. Beaumont, loyal but increasingly disillusioned, sets out to uncover the truth — not just to clear Madvig’s name but because something doesn’t sit right with him.
