Market Close 27 Jan 17: Local shares improved for third day

The Australian sharemarket resumed trade after Thursday's Australia Day holiday. Local shares rose by 0.75% on Friday and by more than 1% this week. Mining stocks struggled today on profit taking but rose most this week.
