Romans 7 is often used as a proof text for a doctrine that says that we are all just sinners saved by grace. If the Apostle Paul struggled as he did over sin, so the theory goes, then it justifies our own struggles. But we can't throw out everything that Paul said in chapter 6, which is what we would have to do to come to that conclusion.
