Inuit Tattooing feat. Maya Sialuk Jacobsen

On this episode of Beneath the Skin, we learn about Inuit tattooing with tattoo artist, historian, activist, and all round fascinating person Maya Sialuk Jacobsen.

 

Maya is a Greenlandic Inuit artist who learned her craft the mechanical way with machines before a shoulder injury brought her to working with traditional Inuit tattooing techniques and using her heritage to preserve the practice and the history that goes with it.
