It's Christmas and Prairie Dog is here to remind you of what's important on this emotionally-charged day. Prairie Dogs are distantly related to Squirrel and shares some similar energetic values, including organization, playfulness, focus, and well, they’re just plain cute! Where the two creatures’ associations part, however, is between the Element of Air (Squirrel) and Earth. The Prairie Dog lives beneath the ground in cozy homes connected by a vast network of tunnels. Besides providing alternative and accessible entry and exit routes in times of trouble, this grid also drains off excess water and deters the chance of internal floods. This may be why both the Apache and Navajo tell us that Prairie Dogs regulate rain and help humans find places with suitable precipitation for supporting life.
