Mid-Session 2 September 19: ASX 200 retreats as investors opt for caution ahead of key growth indicators

Local shares eased on early trade on Monday as investors took a cautious approach ahead of a range of key economic reports slated for release later this week. Bulk miners firmed thanks to a recovery in iron ore prices – energy names were lower in response to a fall in oil prices. Elsewhere, fertiliser maker Incitec Pivot (IPL) slumped on an earnings downgrade.
