#172 – Banned Books Week: Censorship, Subjective Offense & The Freedom To Read With Tonya Todd

 

September 18th–24th is Banned Books Week, so to celebrate, Tonya Todd is releasing one podcast a day focusing on 7 banned books and this conversation serves as an introduction to her new show and opens the door for talking about censorship in art.

 

In more detail, the conversation begins with Tonya explaining why she started the new podcast, how the idea came about, Tonya then confirms the 7 books she chose for the week and how she chose them. Tonya & Mike then discuss whether or not they believe it’s ever right to censor or ban a book, how the 7 books compare to each other, plus Harry Potter & The Hobbit are mentioned as is the collaborative side of Tonya’s podcast – the duo discuss all of these and more!
