US Close 24 Apr 18: US Stocks recover from early selloff

US sharemarkets ended firmer. Investors were comforted by the latest Fed minutes. Shares in General Electric fell 7.3% after the chief executive downgraded the outlook for the company. After being down 167 points, the Dow Jones finished higher by 52 points or 0.2%. The S&P 500 index rose by 0.3% and the Nasdaq index rose by 47.5 points or 0.6%.
