Morning Report 14 Mar 22: US sharemarkets traded lower on Friday

Investors assessed the latest news on the war in Ukraine. Data also showed a bigger than- expected fall in consumer sentiment. Technology fell the most with Apple down 2.4% and Tesla down 5.1%. At the close, the Dow Jones index was down by 230 points or 0.7% after being up 341 points earlier in the session. The S&P 500 index fell by 1.3% and the Nasdaq index shed 286 points or 2.2%. Over the week the Dow fell by 2.0%; the S&P 500 lost 2.9%; and the Nasdaq fell 3.5%.
