Today’s interview is with Dr. Carmen Imes, who is the Associate Professor of Old Testament at Biola University in La Mirada, CA. We talk to her about her excellent book, Bearing God's Name: Why Sinai Still Matters. We discuss what the command means when it says, “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain” (Ex. 20:7), and more broadly the role of the law in general. What does it mean to “bear” or “take” God’s name in vain? How is the law actually missional for Israel being a light to the nations? How is the law applicable to believers today under the new covenant? We discuss these important questions and many more. We hope you enjoy this conversation as an addition to our time in Exodus this fall and winter. This interview also fits with the episode releasing this coming Monday on Ex. 19-24!
