The Pierz Lakers made a statement with a 17-5 win in 7 innings over Roseau in the Class C Semifinals in Brownton. Like they did against Courtland in the Quarterfinals, the Lakers used a huge 2nd inning to grab control of this game. Pierz scored 11 times in the top of the 2nd, starting the inning with 3 straight bunt singles, then Kolten Happke was hit by a pitch to force in the 1st run. Chase Becker then walked to drive in another, as did Ryan Chmielewski. An error got another 2 runs home, then Carter Petron singled to drive in 2 more. Kamden Happke then was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 8-0 and the final blow came from Kolten Happke, who cleared the bases with a 3-run triple to put Pierz ahead 11-0. Pierz added a run in the 3rd on an error, then tacked on another 5 runs in the top of the 6th. Kolten Happke capped off his huge game with his 3rd hit, an rbi single to drive in his 5th run of the game, then Noah Cekalla added a 2-run single, and error got another run in and a wild pitch brought in Cekalla with the final run. Preston Rocheleau went 4.2 innings to get the Win with Matt Swanson, the draftee from Upsala, closing the game with 2.1 shutout innings, striking out 6. The victory moved the Lakers into the State Championship game for the first time in team history.
