US Close 1 Mar 18: Trade war concerns eased- Dow up 116pts

US sharemarkets were mixed. The Dow Jones index rose after a three-day slide as industrial shares gained after White House international adviser, Peter Navarro, played down the chances of a trade war due to protectionist policies. Shares of General Electric (+0.6%) and Caterpillar (+1.3%) both rose. The materials and energy sectors were a drag on the S&P500 index
