Does Art make the World a better Place?

About the redemptive aspects of art. Art often has a preference for an embellished view of reality. Yet there are, especially in the 20th century art, many depictions of the horrible sides. Does the inclination to embellish have something to do with the desire for redemption, and has the urge to re-creation, as in the modern (more abstract) art, too?

This is a lecture for everyone who is involved it art and aesthetics, but also for everyone who values art and wants to understand it. With examples from Rembrandt to Kandinsky and more.
