We enter the murky world of race, racial classification and racial politics in the United States, directly referencing both former president Barack Obama and  Kamala Harris, who presidential candidate Joe Biden has named his vice presidential running mate.

As was with Obama, Harris's racial identity has already become a media obsession, not about who and what she is,  but about who and what she is not. She is not white.
