1999 was quite a year for teen movies: Cruel Intentions. 10 Things I Hate About You. Drive Me Crazy. Jawbreaker. And of course, "She's All That" starring Freddie Prinze, Jr. and Rachel Leigh Cook. The Pygmalion adaptation focuses on high school teens who fall in love in the midst of a cruel bet. And Rolando was surprised how dark the film could be at times. Was high school ever really this mean?

 

Then, flash forward to 2021 when Netflix dropped "He's All That," a retelling of the beloved teen movie but with a twist: The girl gives the guy a popularity makeover. Because equality? The film explores the fragile relationship between teenagers and social media. Does it actually deliver on a message?
