US Close 5 May 17: US markets ended little changes as the US health care bill passes the house

US sharemarkets were mixed on Thursday, as a steep fall for the energy sector was offset by upbeat earnings reports. The S&P Energy sector fell 1.9% following the oil price lower. Exxon Mobil lost 1.3% and Chevron fell 1.8%. The Dow Jones fell by 6 points. The S&P 500 index rose by 0.1% while the Nasdaq rose by almost 3 points or 0.1%.

The US House of Representatives narrowly voted to repeal major portions of Obamacare and replace it with a Republican healthcare plan, now sending it to the senate.
