Monday Market Highlights: 8 July 2024

In this week’s Monday Market Highlights, Equity Trading Manager Will McVeagh discusses the RBA’s released minutes from its June meeting, highlighting the continued challenges of bringing inflation down – and explanation around why rates weren’t raised. He also covers a strong retail sales print, with retail trade increasing 0.6% month-on-month, beating expectations. Will looks into the UK election, the New Zealand quarterly survey of business expectations, and nonfarm payroll data. In equity news, Will discusses Aramco and Adnoc’s rumoured bid for Santos, and Magellan.
