The European Parliament has no right interfering in Irish tax affairs. That’s the warning from the Fine Gael MEP Brian Hayes. The European Parliament today voted in favour of EU Commission proposals to crack down on corporate tax avoidance. The anti-tax avoidance directive reflects the plans by the OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) to limit tax base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) and follows previous recommendations made by the European Parliament last year. All of the four Fine Gael MEPs did not support today’s vote. Here’s Brian Hayes.
