Righteousness, Sincerity, and Giving - Pastor Mike Hovland

Matthew 6:1-4

In Matthew 6:1–18 Jesus transitions from the righteous character of his disciples to their righteous conduct. A disciple of Christ and citizen of his kingdom is not only to be righteous in his or her heart, we are also to do righteous deeds for the glory of God. The life a a disciple in this section could be characterized with one word—sincere. We are not to be like the hypocrites who seek glory from men. Instead, we are to be sincere in our desires to honour God. Only those righteous actions done in sincerity will be rewarded in heaven. This week we will look at verses 1–4 which deal with righteousness in giving.
