—Here are 3 big things you need to know—

 

One —  A Democratic Senator promises to block what he calls the outrageous sale of US Steel to a Japanese company. Pennsylvania lawmaker John Fetterman criticized the deal for Nippon Steel to buy the 122-year-old American company in a post on X. He said the move is wrong for workers and wrong for Pennsylvania.

 

Two—  Hunter Biden is set to be arraigned on tax charges in January.  Biden is expected to make his first appearance on the nine tax-related charges in Los Angeles on January 11th.  He faces three felony and six misdemeanor counts, with a maximum penalty of 17 years in prison.

 

And number three — Southwest Airlines is agreeing to a record-setting civil penalty over last year's holiday travel nightmare.  The Department of Transportation said the airline has agreed to pay a 140-million-dollar fine.  That's 30-times more than any other fine for violating consumer protection laws.  During the year-end holiday travel period last year, Southwest canceled almost 17-thousand flights leaving two-million travelers stranded.
