Market Close 8 Jan 20: Local shares recover from early sell-off

It was a volatile session for the Aussie market which managed to claw back a significant portion of early losses as investors digest the tensions between the US & Iran. The ASX 200 recovered to close slightly lower by 8.8 points. Gold and energy stocks were the major improvers while bank, tech and consumer stocks were the main drags.
