The European Parliament has raised serious concerns about the compatibility of the EU-Mercosur trade deal with the EU’s new Green deal.
The EU and Mercosur group of countries (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay) reached an agreement on a trade pact last June. But the European Parliament and the member states still have to ratify it.
And now questions are being raised about how the Mercosur deal would fit with the EU’s ambitious goals to make Europe climate neutral by 2050.
