 The first words which Amos wishes us to hear him speaking is the name of God, Yahweh. When God declares His name He is offering a summary statement of His character. Yahweh, the Holy God, is declared to be the God who saves His people and overthrows His enemies. Salvation and judgment are equally aspects of His holiness.
