A former military intelligence officer-turned-whistleblower named David Grusch testified at the hearing, alleging that the government has been concealing information about UAPs for decades. Grusch claimed that he was aware of a multi-decade program that involved retrieving and reverse-engineering UAPs, and that he had interviewed officials who had direct knowledge of aircraft with "nonhuman" origins.
Grusch's allegations were met with skepticism by some lawmakers, but they also sparked a renewed interest in the UAP issue. Several members of Congress have called for the government to be more transparent about what it knows about UAPs, and some have even introduced legislation that would require the government to release more information.
In addition to Grusch, the House Oversight Committee also heard testimony from two former Navy pilots who had firsthand experience with UAPs. Ryan Graves and David Fravor both described seeing objects that they could not identify, and they said that the objects seemed to be behaving in ways that defied the laws of physics.
The hearing on UAPs was just the latest in a series of events that have raised public awareness about the issue. In recent years, there have been several high-profile reports of UAP sightings, and the Pentagon has acknowledged that it is investigating the phenomena.
