I. The bible records many of the prayers of Jesus
- His baptism prayer (luke 3)
- The commencement of His public ministry (Mark 1)
- Just before He selected the Twelve (Luke 6)
- At His Transfiguration (Luke 9)
- Before the raising of Lazarus (John 11)
- After the Upper Room Discourse (John 17)
- In the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26)
- At His death (Luke 23)
II. Jesus' prayer in John 17 may well be considered the greatest of all prayers of the bible
- Rich with biblical themes
- Reveals the Love between the Father and the Son( and thus for us!)
- Continues to be effective- a picture of Christ's present intercession on our behalf!
