US Close 5 Sept 16:US closed the week out on positive note, big week hear at home with RBA and GDP.

US sharemarkets rose on Friday after jobs data dampened expectations for a rate hike in September. 

In US economic data, non-farm payrolls (employment) rose by 151,000 in August, short of forecasts for a 180,000 gain. 

But Richmond Federal Reserve President Jeffrey Lacker said the US economy was strong enough to tolerate significantly higher interest rates. The energy sector gained in response to higher oil prices. The Dow Jones index rose by 73 points or 0.4%. The S&P 500 index also rose by 0.4% and the Nasdaq gained almost 23 points or 0.4%. For the week both the Dow and S&P 500 rose 0.5% and the Nasdaq gained 0.6%.
